My Beloved Monster was performed as My Beloved Mad Monster Party (just like in the BBC Sessions earlier that year) with a large group of fans dancing on the stage. Longtime roadie Spider was dancing around next to Butch, while banging on a tambourine. EELS was supposed to do another tv-show a day later and cancelled the gig that was to take place in Groningen at that time. Staying in London seemed to be more sufficient at the time.

That Channel 4 broadcast did not go as planned though. "Oh yeah, that was a fiasco, we shouldn't have cancelled that one", said Tommy of the Groningen show. He said this a few days later in Eindhoven. He explained that they were supposed to do a TV show in England instead of the show in Groningen to get more publicity. Unfortunately at the very last moment Channel 4 cancelled the EELS' live tv-performance for reasons unsaid. Tommy (smiling): "Let's just say that we don't like those people and we'll never play for them again!"

The Groningen show was rescheduled for August, but by then the EELS had become a 'big' band in The Netherlands. So the August show was rescheduled to another (bigger) venue called De Oosterpoort. At that venue, the posters that had been made to promote the May 8 show in Vera were given away for free to the fans. That poster had all the April/May 1997 Dutch tourdates on it. Another poster was custom made and triangle-shaped. Only a few copies were made and it's now a real collector's item.
