Review

nederland 1998Though the audience was paying a bit more attention than the day before in Groningen, support act Lisa Germano cut her set short again because of the talking people. Butch introduced her by telling the audience "to shut the f*ck up!". The EELS set was almost the same as the show two days earlier in Groningen. The only song missing was the Bob Dylan-cover I Want You. While the Groningen gig was a great experience for both band and audience, the Utrecht show failed to recreate this feeling. This mainly because after a rowdy start, the audience in Groningen eventually really 'got' what the EELS were trying to do, while the audience in Utrecht was rather noisy and did not want to be seated at all. They wanted their EELS served the same way as the year before. One person shouted a request for Susan's House. E silenced him by saying: "Susan don't live here anymore".

Audio

The 3FM radio show Leidsche Kade Live, that also broadcast the Amsterdam 1996 performance, did broadcast a small part of this concert (Going To Your Funeral (Pt. 1), Electro-Shock Blues, My Beloved Monster, Novocaine For The Soul, The Medication Is Wearing Off, Last Stop: This Town, P.S. You Rock My World and My Descent Into Madness) on Dutch radio. Some of this was repeated later on.
