The American leg of the Electro-Shock Blues Show tour starts with two short acoustic gigs at the annual Bridge School Benefit concerts, hosted by Neil end Pegi Young. The Bridge School is a non-profit organization whose mission is to ensure that individuals with severe speech and physical impairments achieve full participation in their communities through the use of augmentative & alternative means of communication (AAC) and assistive technology (AT) applications and through the development, implementation and dissemination of innovative life-long educational strategies.

The school is founded by Neil en Pegi Young, who organise an all acoustic show every year as a benefit for this school. In 1998 EELS is invited to perform at this event, along with R.E.M., Phish, Neil Young and others. The band entered the stage dressed like clowns. Their three song set opened both of the 1998 Bridge School Benefit concerts.

On November 13, 2007 recordings of the concerts became available on iTunes in the Bridge School Concerts Volume III collection. You can purchase all three songs performed. Novocaine For The Soul and Hospital Food both come from the first performance. Last Stop: This Town is recorded on the second day of the concerts.
