Review

During the soundcheck, whick we could hear from outside, E changed the lyrics to part of a song (I forgot which one) and improvized lyrics about Butch... It was quite funny. When the doors opened, we were the first ones in, and we got a table about 5 feet from the stage! Lisa Germano started about 15 minutes after the doors opened. She played about 8 or 10 amazing songs on piano, and then left. About 10 minutes later, EELS came on and they began with Cancer For The Cure, which rocked! E just about tipped the organ over! After that (and Fingertips Pt. III) they played about 8 really mellow songs, lots of stuff from the new album. The place was quiet as a mouse! To give you an idea of how quiet it was, during one song I was going to whisper something to my friend sitting beside me, but I was afraid to draw attention to myself. Anyways, the mellow part of the show was incredible...

After the quiet songs were done, E strapped on his guitar and said "okay, since you guys were so nice and quiet during the slow songs, we're going to reward you with some of the devil's music." Then they rocked! After the show, there was a small group of people that went to the tourbus, and talked to the band. E and Butch were there for at least half an hour, talking with us and signing stuff. Adam had gone to a phone booth somewhere to phone his wife, but came a little later. All three of them said how much they liked Montreal, and thought that it was a great show. They loved the crowd and said that they want to come back as soon as possible.
