Review
EELS were excellent. They did a shorter set compared to what they normally do but it was a support slot. Songs included My Beloved Monster to the musuc of The Rolling Stones' Satisfaction and Everything's Gonna Be Cool This Christmas where they pulled out a girl from the audience to play the sleigh bells. The girl was wearing some fluffy cat ears and Adam asked if they were the ears of Satan. E and Adam looked as if they were enjoying themselves (although E looked knackered). Couldn't see Butch - although I managed to get to the front I was to the side and some speakers were in the way. Arse. But he sounded good.
E did the humping the keyboard thing during Cancer For The Cure and broke the stand and during Not Ready Yet. He sat down and started sucking his pipe during Butch's mini solo. Both were pretty amusing to watch. You know, the more times I see EELS live, the more I think that E is such a great frontman. He has so much presence about him and he makes you listen to the songs. The arena was only about a quarter to a half full and half of the people there were half asleep, waiting for Pulp to come on, but by the time EELS' set had almost finished, everyone was listening avidly. It was cool.
