Bus Driving Band Rocking 2001

TOKYO, JAP - SUMMERSONIC FESTIVAL - august 19, 2001

Butch's diary:

Aug. 19, 2001: Today I awake and soak in the bathtub. Butch likes his baths (and referring to himself in the third person -ed.). We head over to the venue to prepare for the show. We unanimously decide that we should learn Deep Purple's My Woman From Tokyo for the Tokyo fans. I have been designated to sing lead. John Parish, the "mad scientist" and I find a suitable key for me to sing it in, (C), then we figure out where this will all go down in the show. There is much debate and discussion as to the mechanics of the song and I truly believe that this is settling our nerves. More waiting. I pass the time by massaging E's tired feet.

Show time and we're on, and I mean we're ON! The redemption takes place and we rock the house. The monitors are beautiful and we are back in the zone. The groove is there and the audience response is awesome. While playing My Woman From Tokyo we learn that it wasn't a big hit in Japan. But we enjoy it just the same. Backstage we walk by Twiggy Ramirez several times just for kicks.

Aug. 20, 2001: last night we were treated to some local cuisine. Butch loves Japanese steak. E stays in his room pleasuring Japanese fans.
