Butch's diary:
Aug. 24, 2001: Reading, England. We have been magically transported by the tour bus to the town of Reading. Today we tackle another fun-filled festival experience. The weather is sunny with a bit of a breeze. A good day to rock. John Parish is on his 5th or 6th Vox Amplifier since Japan, only a few shows ago. And today's amp really craps out. In between songs E walks over to John and I hear him tell John that his amplifier sounds like "ass." Regardless, we forge ahead with the message we have brought the people of Great Britain. The message of rock.
John Parish is going to sit in with his old mates PJ Harvey today. We are treated to some wonderful drumming and guitar licks from the mad scientist. When John counts off one song four times faster than correct, Polly J. Harvey chastises him and calls him a "speed freak" in front of 50,000 people. We watch from the side of the stage with great amusement. I look over to the other side of the stage and see E hanging with some familiar faces. The rumors are confirmed: The super group Everett, Hynde & Pop are in the house casually discussing their future plans.
