EELS was supposed to play in Rotterdam, at the Ahoy' Open Air extravaganza. A new festival in The Netherlands, with the band Live as a big headliner and the very nice lads of Snow Patrol as another 'big' name. For the funky people among us even good ol' James Brown was booked to funk up at the afterparty. But things did not go as hoped. Due to poor ticketsales - as a result of headliner Snow Patrol cancelling the gig - and noise level constraints, the Ahoy' Open Air Festival was been cancelled all together and the EELS were booked to play the Oosterpoort in Groningen instead. James Brown eventually did play at the Ahoy', by the way. That concert proved to be one of the last ever of the hardest working man in show business.
