    U.S.A. 1998 - Try out shows

With the EELS second album Electro-Shock Blues due for release in October, the shows played in september are highly anticipated. It's the first time in two years that fans are able to hear new material. My Head frontman Adam Siegal (ex-Suicidal Tendencies) takes Tommy's place on bass during the Electro-Shock Blues tour, which was labelled as Electro-Shock Blues Show.

    EUROPE 1998 - Leg 1

Eventually the tour to promote the album Electro-Shock Blues is not as well received as the 1997 tour. Not the least bit because the majority of the setlist comes from an album that's not yet released in Europe at the time EELS plays there. Plus the fact that they have to sit thoughout the entire gig doesn't go down too well with some of the 'fans'. Lisa Germano is the support act and opens with a wonderful solo set. For those who are open to it. Most of the time people keep chatting. A real shame...
In the meantime critics are raving about the Electro-Shock Blues and when it's finally released it's an instant classic. The only other 'new' material released in 1998 is Dog's Life, on the soundtrack of the Welcome To Woop Woop movie.

    U.S.A. 1998 - leg 2

The tour starts with three short shows at Neil Young's annual Bridge School Benefit. The tour is ill-fated because of noisy audiences, pretty bad venues and the fact that E's mother Nancy Everett is dying. Eventually part of the American leg of the tour is cancelled when E's mother dies of cancer in november 1998.
