U.S.A. 2006 - Various
What better way to promote a semi-acoustic dvd or cd than with a rockshow? Garage rock? Only E and his band of merry men can pull that one off... On January 25, 2006 Eelstheband.com announced: "In a surprise announcement, EELS leader Mark Oliver Everett, aka E, has informed EELStheband.com that the EELS intend to hit the road in 2006! That's all we know for now. We don't know where, when, or how yet, so stay tuned to EELStheband.com for developments as soon as they come in!" Initial shows were played (mostly by E solo) to promote the Town Hall live album and as a tribute to the ever so great Joni Mitchell.

U.S.A. 2006 - Leg 1
Eventually the tourdates were announced and when the EELS hit the road, it became clear that the No Strings Attached tour could not have been more different than the EELS With Strings tour that had stunned friend and foe. After a charming set by under aged popband Smoosh, EELS was ready to ROCK (yes, in capitals). For this tour de force, E had hijacked the complete band of Portland singer/songwriter James Low (Lyster and Brown have also played with Fernando, while Hunter has led the rockabilly trio The Vibrasonics) and he turned them in a bearded rocking machine that puts ZZ Top to shame. Tearing through songs from Blinking Lights And Other Revelations, some golden oldies and a lot of covers, the EELS left the audience behind with bleeding ears.

EUROPE 2006
Playing mostly festivals, the shows in Europe were somewhat shorter than the ones in the U.S.A. Where possible EELS brought the Smoosh girls along with them. But sometimes there just wasn't room for the girls on the festival bills. Both shows at the London Astoria were filmed. One as a bootleg (quite a good one too) and the other officially for future release on the EELS Live And in Person! London 2006 cd/dvd set. Parts of most U.K. festival gigs were broadcast on television, as goes for the majority of the Montreux Jazz Festival performance and part of the set at Rock Werchter.

This time the EELS had to tour without the support of 'their favourite band ever' Smoosh. They filled their vacant spot by placing drummer Knuckles up on the stage and have him act as a stand up comedian.
